Oregon Coast March 2012

A spring break long weekend exploring the Pacific coastline.
  • Silvery Agate Beach -- on the outskirts of Newport.
  • Some seals sleep, some seals yawn. Yaquina Head, OR.
  • Heceta Head on a crystal clear morning.
  • A tighter view. Too bad the lighthouse is just beginning renovations, it would have been a print-worthy image.
  • Waves that go "thump" when they break...
  • Carl G. Washburne beach... miles and miles and no one else there.
  • Large float. From Japan's tsunami 12 months ago?
  • Hunting shells and sand dollars on a blazing hot 60-deg day.
  • Yvonne's haul from Washburne beach -- just a small portion of her sand dollar fortune.
  • Coast Guard patrol -- multiple times per day.
  • Yvonne in her favorite place. (Too hot for jackets for the 1st time in 2012.)
  • Cape Perpetua, near Yachats, OR.
  • Three Arches Rocks from Oceanside, OR. (The arches face the other way.)
  • Muscles, muscles, muscles, and barnacles.
  • Civil Air Patrol plane rocking its wings and blasting a tsunami warning message. It was a drill... Yvonne and I decided to be casualties.
  • Sea loins hauled out on the rocks -- a LOT of them.
  • Haystack Rock at Cape Kiwanda. Pacific City, OR.
  • Climbing the Cape Kiwanda dune for a better view.
  • Dune top, with a 30-mph wind and lots of drifting sand.
  • View north to Cape Lookout.
  • A curiously named shrimp trawler at the Newport commercial dock.
  • Two Miss Yvonnes - one better looking than the other.
  • A different way to capture the sunset (without blinding myself).
  • Pacific Sunset -- 7:36 PM. Lincoln Beach, OR.
  • Whale fountain at Depoe Bay goes off every 90-sec (we timed it).
  • Oyster Catcher on muscle-covered rocks. Fogarty Creek near Lincoln Beach, OR.
  • Seal facepalm. Quarry Cove, OR. (Thanks for looking at my photos...)
